Sunday, July 30, 2017 - What a difference a year in the bottle made. While still very fruit forward, the acidity of this bottle was a little more tame and the fruit isn't so in your face.

Opened the bottle about 25 minutes before pouring and then let the first pour set in the glass for another 10 or 15 minutes.

Lots of black and red fruit on the nose with a very slight herbaceous undertone that definitely added to the complexity. Evolved over the next hour or two becoming much more settled and complex.

On the palate, initial fruit was intense with cherry and strawberry dominating. The acidity definitely helps tame the fruit and this wine became more complex and interesting as the night wore on. Definitely a heavier style of pinot noir even for a california wine that pairs with richer food than the average pinot noir. Definitely a winner, looking forward to trying a bottle a year for the next ten years.
