Sunday, February 18, 2018 - Tampa Spring Break III; 2/16/2018-2/18/2018 (Tampa FL): From the wine list at Bern's. We all loved the label on this old bottle - the vintage year is actually shown inside the little flag on the castle - how whimsical! Unfortunately this one was showing pretty far over the hill. On the nose lots of earthy, mushroomy funk. On the palate the fruit is gone and this is all about earthiness and mushroom farming. The first sips were the best but the mushroom flavors begin to overwhelm the glass after a bit. We enjoyed it as we thought about what was happening in the world during the roaring '20's - and how this bottle was probably in the private cellar of some english lord.
