Sunday, December 24, 2017 - Xmas Eve 2017: out of a wine fridge (temperature: 50 F), approx. 20 minutes decanted at room temperature; purple crimson color; started with intense cinnamon and cedar aromas in the nose and mouth, next sip both flavors faded a bit into the background and revealed red and black berries (especially strawberry and blackberry), chocolate, bread and some coffee; some slightly snappy and bitter tannins on the palate; light/medium body; restrained, round texture; medium finish.

Aroma/flavorwise the 2001 Lynch Bages was outstanding. However, the austere texture and restrained body weren’t fully fitting to the promises the nose delivered. Don‘t think the wine can improve further but will stay another 10 years on the given level, good storage conditions provided. 90-91 points.
