Thursday, May 4, 2017 - Wow, wow and then another wow... The 2014 Machado Pinot Noir is one of those flirtatious deep profound interpretation of this varietal. The nos exhibits rainy deciduous forest, wet earth, orange zest, blood grape, profound fruit with strawberry and raspberry, wet saddle leather and a totally brilliant texture. This nose is to die for. The palate is perfectly balanced with a rather forward acidity, but who expect something else from this infant? Everything is in place, as is a solid structure. This wine will certainly continue to develop and it probably needs to rest for a decade to show its even more complex sides. Overall impression is just "wow". Go out and find a bottle, or two. Put them in the cellar and then wait. This is magical!

Tasted in a flight with 2014 Brewer-Clifton 3-D Chardonnay, Hapgood Chardonnay, 3-D Pinot Noir and Machado Pinot Noir. Same producer and vintage, two varietals, three vineyards.
