Sunday, November 19, 2023 - Decanted 2+ hours ahead of seared Kalbi flank steak, potato salad, grilled asparagus, and mixed salad. Brooding purple-crimson color. Nose brings overpowering pipe tobacco, mint, eucalyptus, cherry pie, and some funky forest floor. The palate is large, square, and supple, bringing a juicy core of bright red fruit (red cherries and ripe raspberries) mixed with dark plums, blackberries, bitter dark chocolate, strong coffee, and some scattered cloves, anise, and fire pit ash. The finish is an extended tannic wall that is more pronounced without food, so drink 2025-2035. Still, this was enjoyable with our meal now. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.
