Saturday, June 17, 2023 - Needs a good decant to open up, and has a very attractive nose of violet, leather, black currant, black berry, tobacco and just the ever so slightest hint of bell pepper. Also a passing whiff of horse stall. The palate, though, is very structured. Chewy tannins, pretty rocky feeling, and the fruit isn’t as forthcoming as it was on the nose. I would say it’s at the beginning of its drinking window, but would be better with more bottle age, 5 years or so more, at least.
