Community Tasting Note

Monday, June 22, 2015 - Tasted this wine just a couple of weeks ago at the tasting room. Fell in love with it then, loved it again last night! It is just a sumptuously gorgeous blend of all the flavors I love in a wine. It was darker in the glass than I remembered it being at the tasting room. Maybe that was due to the brilliant light from the setting sun in Kauai. It was essentially PnP. (Took it to the restaurant early so they could decant it. Fortunately they had not yet done so because when our server brought the decanter to the table, the bottom of the inside of the decanter was covered with dishwasher soap scum! Poor form!) The nose was intoxicating with bright red and blue fruits. We let it sit in our glasses for about 30 minutes before tasting it. On the palette we got the same red and blue fruits, but with a lot of depth and balance. The mouthfeel was lush and the finish was long. This is a gorgeous wine! Must get more!! Side note: The previous night's wine was a 2004 Joseph Phelps "Insignia." Sorry, but this wine easily outshone the Phelps.
