91 Points

Sunday, April 18, 2021 - Found this in my cellar from a purchase in 2017 and thought I'd see how it's doing at the 8 year mark. Gave 3h air, which made it drinkable but this definitely needs time or more air to show its true colors. Pale garnet color. Very earthy on the nose with notes of cherry, fig, moss, tar, white pepper, anise, menthol and crushed gravel. Dusty and earthy on the palate also: red fruit, menthol, mossy, with spicy notes and a smoky sweetness in the lingering finish. Medium-full bodied, with muscular tannins that need more time to resolve, integrate and lose their rough edges.

Hold on for 2-3 more years before you pull this out, and it has the depth to survive another decade beyond that.
