Friday, June 5, 2020 - Took a while to get going. Had a similar "unclean" start on the nose as 2013 did end of last year, but blew off after a hour or so in the decanter. We aired this wine for like 4, 5 or 6 hours. For my palate this was probably too much as I felt the wine had already started the transition from the fresh, sweet, red-to-dark fruit which I got when checking in on the wine in the decanter - to the more dark and massive fruit together with some smokey wood character. Of the two phases, at least on the nose, I prefer the former. This is a deep and massive wine. Very impressive. Stylistically I prefer the 2013 although the 2015 can clearly go on for decades. The group enjoyed this one even more than I did.
