Wednesday, April 13, 2022 - I could sniff this all night - cassis, blueberries, soft leather, mint, eucalyptus. Definitely not a fruit bomb, much closer to the mature Burgundian end of cote rotie - feminine and beguiling. I was a little more taken with the nose than the pallet. Whilst the wine is elegant and delicious, there’s a slight prunish vegetal thing going on. It’s not off putting but the fruit lacked a bit of freshness. I’ve read reviews which suggest the life span of Underhill is shorter than the equally delicious YY Dry Red Wine #2. Maybe this is passing it’s peak.
