Saturday, October 22, 2022 - We had the balance of our Coravined bottle (from 2020), when this wine was too shut down. It was pretty good wine on its own, with notes of plum, red berries, cherry, oak, a bit of spice and just a hint of sweetness on the finish.

Surprisingly, it was absolutely delicious (and paired well!) with the beef and beans chili -- as recommended by Even Goldstein (in his Daring Pairings wine book). I would have never, otherwise served an Italian wine with an American chili -- but the book said the Aglianico grape goes well with lentils and beans -- and it sure does.

It was my impression this bottle was more advanced due to the Coravin taste 2 years ago and its being stored on its side, since. Other bottles may require more time. I also gave it a good shake (search Mollydooker shake) before opening!
