Sunday, February 19, 2023 - Napa Merlot. Pulled alongside another Oakville wine (a 2009 Paradigm Cab Franc) and what a great combo this was. Enjoyed with a white chicken pizza with mushrooms, olive and spinach, this Merlot had a lot of great things to offer. Silky and smooth, black cherry, ripe raspberry fruitcake, dash of black pepper starting from the front end. Spicy yet the fruit core shines through on this one. Not the most complex wine but it's a great accoutrement to food, and it added a nice balance to the darker, older Oakville cab franc and added a more youthful character to the trio.
