Saturday, June 4, 2022 - Brief notes on wines at Noble Rot with Thierry, Mark and the two Andrews (Wellington, NZ): Cloudy looking. A musky, funky, earthy bouquet with freshly cut green, and dried, herbs, suggesting a cool site and vintage. On palate, robust, not at all elegant. Chewy tannins and a little rustic but nonetheless enjoyable. Damp soil, dry and wet garrigue, cherries, black tea and slatey minerals. Lighter bodied. Savoury but fairly linear, lacking a little fruit and some flavour complexity and nuance. I really doubt it will improve from here, drink out until about 2028.
