Brief notes on wines at Noble Rot with Thierry, Mark and the two Andrews (Wellington, NZ): Cloudy looking. A musky, funky, earthy bouquet with freshly cut green, and dried, herbs, suggesting a cool site and vintage. On palate, robust, not at all elegant. Chewy tannins and a little rustic but nonetheless enjoyable. Damp soil, dry and wet garrigue, cherries, black tea and slatey minerals. Lighter bodied. Savoury but fairly linear, lacking a little fruit and some flavour complexity and nuance. I really doubt it will improve from here, drink out until about 2028.

Upon first opening and pouring significant bricking was noted. Drank over 6 hours from the bottle. Nose initially was very tertiary was earthy and meaty with little fruit over time became funky then woody with finally some fruit coming out in the last two hours with cranberry and raspberry complimented by some floral notes. Tastes were largely the same not very acidic, not tannic, moderate finish. Thought about dumping half way through but glad I didn’t, bottle was clearly prematurely oxidized (cork looked pristine) but still provided some pleasure after being open for a few hours. Monopole

Opened last night. As true of the previous bottle I had of this wine, the charm is mostly in the nose. Very fragrant with rose petals and light cherry. Very charming. Palate is relatively tight but not unattractive. This could probably use a little more time to come out of its shell, but quite drinkable at this young age. 4-12-15-8: 89/100

Very light in color. On the delicate side, with rose petal aromas and light cherry flavors. Surprisingly long finish. Sneaky good. 4-12-15-8: 89/100.

Drunk with Dave McKean at his house in Vista. Good, not great. Didn't take notes, probably about 90.
