Wednesday, May 18, 2016 - A crash course in Zind Humbrecht at Jeff and Dena's (Raleigh, NC): A blockbuster of a wine that feels more like an SGN than a VT. The complexity here is staggering - it's packed with an array of tropical fruits, sweeter honeyed and apricot marmalade notes, and more savoury earthy, burnished, and smoky flavours. The depth here is remarkable, but it feels a touch heavy on the palate and while the sweetness is very well balanced and never cloying, I did find myself wishing this had the extra jolt of acidity that the other VTs showed.

6/17/2016 9:18:00 AM - A better wine that this night's showing. Places incorrectly in the lineup which hurt it. By itself before the great Indian dinner Salil made but after the 2 dry Rieslings that had meats & cheeses with them. On its own it would have shown much better though I agree with Salil that the acidity was relatively low - an oddity for this wine.
