Monday, February 24, 2020 - Deep ruby in the glass. Coonawarra Cab always reminds me of Spanish Cabs (not the most mainstream Cabs on the map, but hey). They always have the varietal expression - capsicum, black fruit, tobacco - but one note stands out, the dirty saddle. It's kinda old, kinda funky, but blends in well with the rest of the profile. Big body, brooding alcohol and high acid. Still unripe tannins. Long finish. Give it 3-4 years in the bottle, will open up graciously.
