Saturday, June 30, 2012 - Big, rich nose, filled with black cherries, plums, and lingering strawberries. Color is deep purple, a hint of age showing on the edges. Luscious mouthfeel, as if soft velvet is caressing the palate. Tannins are firm, though well integrated. All sorts of fruit happening here, most notably the cherries and black plums, with ripe blackberries making a strong showing as well. Evokes memories of our last visit to the St. Helena farmers market a few years back, with all the hedonistic delights to be had there. This grape juice is showing phenomenally right now, hugely better than when I last partook of it. Yummy! The best Zin I've had in some time.
