Saturday, January 28, 2012 - I'm a complete idiot. Got some stuff pulled back from offsite, was sorting through and popped this bottle, not recognizing it was the same thing I opened a couple of days ago. On the other hand, it's quite a lesson, because my impression this evening is quite different from my earlier note.
This time around, I don't get "modern", and the "chocolate" somewhat subdued. This time, I get bold spicy aromatics. On the palate, balanced fruit and acidity, with a nice dollop of cedar tinged wood. More tannins than I recall from the earlier bottle.
I wonder to what degree bottle treatment might influence some of these differences. The last bottle had been standing up for several weeks, while this one came right off the truck.
