flawed

Thursday, October 13, 2016 - Very reduced and stinky on the nose. The wine seems to be virtually impervious to oxidation as there is no noticeable degradation over three days in the open bottle, but unfortunately the sulphuric compounds are almost as stubborn as the wine itself. Other than that, this is a lovely, pure and fresh, engaging, medium-bodied and very digestible (12% ABV) Blaufränkisch with bright acidity, gentle phenolics, sour cherry fruit, a vibrant mineral core, and good length. Should score 88 or even 89 points, but the reduction is too strong to disregard. Flawed.
