Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - On the nose this is a little funkier than the regular '06 Alpine, maybe slightly reductive, with a potent aroma of dried strawberry, and some subtle, well-integrated stem aromas. Swirling brings out the distinctive strawberry/cherry liquor present in the '06 Alpine. Even tighter and more tannic than that wine, this is a structured beast that needs lots of time. In terms of tannins this is almost like drinking young nebbiolo.
