Friday, January 13, 2012 - I have to admit I would be pushed to get this as a Burgundy in a blind tasting based on the nose at the first sniff - big and ripe but after a few minutes this eases out into something more meaty and feral that starts to reveal the more animalistic elements of this region. Not a gentle wine and not a mature wine - although it does have the indications of starting to dip into middle age. Rich plums, sous-bois, morello cherries - quite rich and deep. It is touching on the verge of being ripe and overdone, but just about brings it back to being Burgundy. Good, but ripe.
