Friday, August 20, 2004 - This final bottle started off smelling good, and tasting decent, but my initial thoughts were "I'm glad it's the last bottle as this is on the downhill slide." However, after 30 minutes in the glass this wine got huge and showed it's got at least a couple more years left. Huge layers of blueberry, blackberry, raspberry and roasted dark fruits along with chocolate and a sweet, fruit finish. Brambly undertones along with gobs of "mass" made this one of the bigger wines I've had in a while. The only drawbacks were the nose, which wasn't nearly indicative enough of the palate, and it was a bit hot (although at 17.2% alcohol what can you expect). Too bad this was it - I'd like to see how it evolves for 3 more years...
