Saturday, August 17, 2013 - I carried a few of these beauties back from the cellar door, via China - part of 18 bottles stashed in my luggage. This weekend seemed like the right time to rip the scab off a bottle and give it a look. And what a delightful bottle of Shiraz it has become.

Color: Deep crimson
Nose: Raspberries, blackberries, cocoa and anise

The mouthfeel is superb, velvety and mouth-coating without the cloying, syrupy texture of so many over-done Shiraz. The palate is more floral than spicy - it wouldn't be a stretch to describe this wine as "pretty." Mind you, it's no lightweight - there's plenty of fruit here, balanced with solid tannins.

I wouldn't speculate as to how long this might last, but it's damn good right now.
