Thursday, September 14, 2023 - Have you ever made a mistake that turned out well? I opened this by mistake and glad I did. I meant to open the 2018 but here we are with the still delicious 2016. Love this wine. Nose bursts from the glass with black and red fruit. Even after 48 hours open it is still beautifully aromatic. Dark brooding fruit, ripe acidity and a luscious yet delicate finish. Lovely with both red meat and chocolate maybe thanks to the 15% cab franc? Just a wonderful St. Emilion with the merlot supplying cherry and raspberry fruit and the cab franc additional structure. You can wait 5 years before it fully matures but if you decant and pour back and forth a few times you can enjoy today.
