94 Points

Friday, March 26, 2010 - When opened, there was an expressive oaky and sweet grapy fragrance.
Exploded a very impressive bouquet after 5 mins. Could already feel the silkiness when I poured the wine.
colour: black, opaque, orange rim, good even legs
1st nose: extremely sweet candied cassis, very ripe black berry, smoky but grapy, a very little trace of being meaty and liquorish, finish with obvious lead pencil note
2nd nose: even more lead pencil, Nose: 95
Palate when just opened: rich, medium to full bodied, a bit meaty, lead pencil, chewy, strong and structured tannin but silky, very balanced with some acidity

After 3 hours decanting, showed cute pretty even legs. Can smell that all the flavours have emerged.
1st nose: creme de cassis, ripe and grapy, liquorice, less sweet but more creamy
2nd nose: exciting sweet creme de cassis, bouquet of fruitcake plus liqourice, hint of herbs, soft alcoholic scent
Palate: creamy and rich, candied black fruit, lead pencil, hint of leather, trace of roasted herbs, chewy and concentrated, silky and powerful, medium to full bodied, smooth and sweet tannin and right acidity, extremely balanced
Finish: long pure sweet finish, 40+ secs.
Overall: Mellow. A real Bordaux wine. Good with red meat as it is powerful. At peak in my opinion. 94+
