Friday, January 4, 2013 - From 37,5cl, inferior cork with seepage almost quarter-way back, but no harm done. It is ESSENTIAL to decant this wine for at least an hour - only after two hours did it really open up and show all the cedar-blackcurrant-spice stuff other CT TNs praise and the astonishing, perfect balance which makes it seem weightless despite its very real substance. If you are fortunate enough to have this lovely wine in your cellar, or to be able to afford to drink it in a restaurant, whether or not to pop a cork now is almost a moral dilemma. Yes, given sufficient air time it is delicious right now. But no, I am quite certain that it isn't showing as well now as it will do in 5 to 15 years time, even from 37,5 cl. As a person predisposed to giggle at old-school wine-bores and their wine-necrophilia it hurts me to say so, but: if only you can bear to delay your gratification another year... another five years... even longer... you will be richly rewarded. 92P(+)
