84 Points

Friday, March 19, 2010 - This wine is over oaked, which dominates the nose and the palate, and does not allow the nuances of Cabernet Sauvignon to come out. A flaw, in my opinion. It's shame because this is otherwise a muscular, firm wine with solid structure, focus and depth that will allow it to cellar for ten years no problem if you want to see what secondary flavors develop. Good finish. Oaky tasting notes are consistent my notes on the Pride Merlot 2006, too. The 84 rating might seem harsh, but I cannot give a wine this over oaked a "very good to excellent" score.
