Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - More Weeknight Tasting in KW (Dave's House): Decanted quickly for sediment, served blind to the group (my wine), followed for less than an hour, as this was gone pretty quick. Beautiful complexity on the nose, showing cassis, red berries, earth, humidor, leather, mushroom, truffle, undergrowth, light bell pepper and celery seed from the pyrazine. On the palate, red fruits, earth, leather and pyrazine. Still some nice structure here with a bit of grip on the finish, and juicy acidity. Finish is nice and long. This is by far the best bottle I've had of this yet, and is in a perfect spot for my tastes, still showing that gorgeous fruit, but also some excellent tertiary notes. The group guessed Bordeaux on this, and I don't blame them. Great showing from this bottling.
