Thursday, January 27, 2022 - Very dark, with a nose centered on pomegranate fruit and cola/red licorice, with hints of spice starting to develop in the background. Sweet and assertive in the mouth, but the ripeness is nicely framed by firm acidity and soft tannins, keeping the wine in quite a nice balance. I prefer Peter’s more nuanced, finessed wines — this is a bit of a powerhouse and not totally typical for his lineup, and I’m getting a bit more cola on the nose than is ideal. But in fact it was a fantastic match to our pot roast and would work super well with any kind of pasta.
