Wednesday, September 26, 2018 - A dark, creamy wine with a nose of blackberries and ripe plums, star anise, barest hints of eucalyptus and charred wood. Sweet but with substantial acidity, soft tannins, medium length finish. A little hot and slightly intense/unbalanced: not a wine to drink on its own. But it worked well when paired with a cheese ravioli in a garlic scape pesto. I’m guessing other pasta dishes that have a strongly flavored tomato sauce would also be good matches for this beast... or a spicy BBQ... wine for food that has a real kick.
