85 Points

Monday, October 12, 2009 - This wine weighs in at 14.2% alcohol and has an orange rim with a brick red center. The nose pours out mint, dark raspberry, and chocolate as it opens in the glass. In the mouth, there is tart cranberry and eucalyptus, but the drying tannins take over and clamp down on the flavors giving the wine a clipped feel. Structurally, the tannins have ousted the fruit, and while there is some nice, tart cranberry initially, the tannins overwhelm the mid-palate. The finish is tough, but this is a 12 year old wine that is quite big-boned and tired.
