Thursday, March 19, 2020 - 2013 Cave de Turckheim Brand Riesling was citrus, tart and refreshing. The Alsatian Riesling was clear and pale lemon in colour without any sediments. Freshly opened, it had aromatics of lemon zest, wet stones and subtle mineral oil, and with some aeration in bottle, notes of honey and pineapple developed. On the palate, it was dry and medium-bodied, with high level of refreshing acidity, together with notes of citrus zest and apricot dominating the medium finish.
Somehow, I was expecting more complexity and mineral characters based on my experience with previous vintages of this wine. Nevertheless, the Alsatian Riesling showed good typicity with citrus and mineral characters.
