Saturday, November 14, 2020 - An epiphany of what an opulent white wine should be like. Having had hardly any experience with CDP whites I wasn't sure what to expect, but I can safely say this is a total stunner. The rest of the party tasted this blind and unanimously guessed Burgundy Grand Cru! The fruit profile is dominated by stone fruit such as ripe nectarine, but there are also traces of more tropical flavours like pineapple and a splash of lime. There is both mineral and floral complexity (thinking sun flowers) but also hints of herbal, almost chemical or medicinal notes. Fantastically complex palate with lots of breath. Round and finely textured, but also dense and structured to an extent that I almost lost sight of all the fresh acidity that builds up into vibrant and electrifying finish. This was one of the most complete and layered palate sensations I've ever had – not only among whites but in wine in general. The only negative point: The QR-code on the back that should have played the A Tempo tune when scanned didn't work.
