Friday, November 17, 2023 - Decanted by the restaurant for ~5-hrs before serving in the (non-blinded) flight of the '17 Faiveley Rodin & the '93 L. Trapet Chambertin. With the Trapet showing/tasting "differently" from the two '17s, the table immediately gravitated to comparing the Rousseau & Faiveley. Both equally refined & regal, the Faiveley appeared to be immediately more showy whereas the Rousseau required us to almost pay attention and explore what it had to offer... which was aplenty... Beautiful nose of red-cherries, roses, sandalwood/spice that kept building on with air (in glass), it was surely alluring & attractive (if one allowed it time). Layered & complexed, this was all wrapped up in a satiny red-robe of strawberries, red-cherries, with an elegant long tail in tow. This should develop further with more cellar age and definitely bring about more pleasure downstream. Already tasty, best to still hold for more development...
