Friday, May 28, 2021 - Italian wines and I have never become too acquainted, mostly because there are so many variations that it makes Burgundy look simple. But a while back a friend gave me a basic Langhe bottling by Massolino and it was a very pleasant surprise. Going a notch up to their Barolo, the surprise at the quality was gone but the appreciation of it was increased. Barolo = tar and roses in the classic tasting notes, but this showed none of the former and much of the latter, along with darker red fruits. A really lovely bottle of wine.
