90 Points

Friday, August 9, 2019 - Deep, inky, and brilliant, reminiscent of blackberry juice. Scents of dark berries and a touch of floral raspberries, overlaid with a healthy but not overwhelming body of integrated oak—which along with a touch of leather and savory tertiary scents lends this wine a sense a maturity.

Medium acidity on the attack, berries and vanilla on the mid-palate, fine tannins on the finish are noticeable but I certainly wouldn’t characterize this wine as “tannic.”

This wine is an anatomically correct aged barbera produced in a somewhat New World style. It’s perfectly enjoyable on its own and would make a fantastic everyday dinner wine. 88+ wine on its own merits, and I’m giving the score a slight fist-bump because of its totally reasonable price.
