Saturday, June 21, 2008 - thin and rosy in colour. Big fat smack of plum on the nose followed by straw bale, broccoli and a hint of windex(really, go smell some windex and you will know what I'm talking about-gotta be the lemon windex though). Definitely an old world type pinot with restrained fruit and lots of cola and ginger up front with strong asparagus and other vegetal aspects further back including some strong raw beetroot. Tannins overpower and it is the less desirable flavours that last the longest. Another example of the inattention by the california wine industry to lower priced wines. Save your money and spend $15 on a Bourgogne, or pony up another ten bucks for an infinitely better california Pinot. If this wine went for 6.99 I might recommend it but at 11 dollars it is simply outclassed by its imported colleagues
