Thursday, May 9, 2019 - One of my fav Burgundy producers whose wine has been increasing in price fast. So, bought some of his base level Bourgogne for the first time in order to be able to drink his juice on a more regular basis. First bottle of a case. Medium ruby in color - deeper than most Burgundy, and seems quite high in alcohol/legs/viscosity. Not that strong a nose, at least to start with. Some sweetish fruit - plum, some raisin, and secondary of cured meat perhaps? Or mild mushroom. Good mouth feel. Slightly acidic, but nicely so, and as sometimes described “chewey.” Not a lot of tanin and medium in length. Overall a nice fresh Bourgogne that is certainly well above average. A great daily drinker from here through the next 3 years would be my guess. (Note. Only 5140 bottles produced. Interesting that even on this entry level wine he is now marking up the labels with bottle numbers!)
