Thursday, March 23, 2023 - Coravin access. Tasted alongside the same vintage Vajra Bricco delle Viole and PdB Montefico.

The least impressive of the three wines, and also quite restrained. Somewhat muted bouquet, of tart and sweet red berries, hibiscus, rose hip, raspberry leaf tea, cut tobacco, savory herbs, and menthol.

Correct in all regards, though nothing stood out. Medium minus body, for Barolo, and fairly high-pitched. A touch biting at the back. Interesting and likely to evolve for another decade or so. Not the equal of other vintages of this label. Quality nonetheless.

3/24/2023 4:39:00 AM - Interesting note. I have tried a number of bottles of Vietti normale over a number of vintages, and my tasting notes are always quite similar to yours above. Tight, medium minus body, high pitched - nothing special. So I wait a few more years to try the next bottle of the same vintage - and my notes are still similar. I am starting to think this bottling is not for me....

2/22/2024 4:07:00 PM - I just opened my first of the 2015, and I agree with your notes. The body is a bit (a small bit) bigger than I expected, likely due to the warm of 2015. But other than this, it is a textbook Barolo normale. Nothing special, but very typical and correct (with that touch of warm vintage character).
