Wednesday, May 23, 2018 - We drank this with a salad, made of chicken, lettuce, peanuts, paprika, egg and with a sauce of peanut butter, lemon, ginger and koriander. I had forgotten this Kabinett is not very sweet at all. Like with many Rieslings from the region, the nose is very nice and it fits the dish; the taste however was less of a success. Or actually, it starts great, interacting with the coriander and nively bringing out the chicken. It's fresh and sweet, but then, there is a more acidic phase; not too bad; followed by a biiter 'thoomb' on the middle of the tongue, as if I'm drinking tonic. We tasted the wine at the vineyard and this did not stand out at the time, so it may be interaction with the food; although the effect remained after dinner. It needs other food for sure. Btw we visited a number of vineyards in the region and this one was by far our favourite-- but perhaps more for the other Rieslings than for this one.
