Friday, July 16, 2010 - 5 years ago I would have been going gaga for this wine, not long after I bought it back in 03-04. Now, after tasting thousands of wines, and just coming off a trip to Bordeaux, I am less excited about this style. If nothing it is quite delicious and fairly balanced, if not a huge wine all together. Plenty of "come hither" fruit and oak are exuded on this sexy wine. But it’s just kind of like that hot chick with little depth.

Color: Surprisingly dark, very dark for a 9 year Napa cab, but this is a Bob Foley wine, no messing around here! A purple red robe encircles the wine glass.

Nose: Oodles of Crème de cassis, scorched earth, mocha, spice, blackberry and blueberry, this is the dark aroma end of the spectrum

Palate: Similar, but with more currants than cassis, charcoal, licorice, blackberry and some blueberry, spicy. Full bodied, tannins are there but not aggressive; this is balanced well as the wine still has plenty the other parts in line with the largesse style.
