Wednesday, September 3, 2003 - Tried in Sept 2003. One of the biggest and most powerful 2001 Cal Cabs I've had. This wine threw up a wall of harsh tannins which prohibited all but the most basic fruit flavors to pass through. I did detect notes of plum and berry but not much else. The concentration, body and fruit core are all present and I am confident this will evolve into an excellent wine but it needs time. 93+.
