Sunday, September 17, 2017 - The 1997 Grands-Echezaux by Mongeard-Mugneret shows smokiness, red pepper, piment, five spice, and dried plum on the nose. The palate is driven by smokiness, a variety of spices, dried plum, and black cherries. Tannins are present and it hits your palate right away. I wouldn't say this is your typical elegant burgundy, but a terrific wine nonetheless and a great pairing to the food.
