Wednesday, June 21, 2017 - Summer solstice and a year since I opened my first bottle. Something I've never seen before, and that I wasn't aware of earlier: I just poured a dram to sample the wine and found a thick coating on the inside of the bottle. Not dregs; can't be decanted away. Pull a finger around the inside of the neck and you get a thin, purple ink stain. It's wine; doesn't taste any different from the liquid. And it doesn't penetrate the skin: a lick and it's gone.

Wine physics aside, this cab has improved a bit in 14 months. Still firm tanins on opening that soon soften. Nice layered flavors emerge.
