2nd of 2 bottles from recent auction. Really enjoyed this bottle on its own before dinner and with potato soup with meatballs. Was really singing after reaching room temp (70F). Not showing a lot of age, but has a really integrated character and mouthfeel (thanks screwcap!).

14.5% abv. 1st of 2 bottles from recent auction purchase. This is really an enjoyable middle-of-the-road easy to drink Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe, but not too ripe, some oak, but not enough to cover up the fruit character, balancing acidity as well. In a great spot right now. As a previous note pointed out, there is a "film" on the inside of the glass, but very little sediment. I'm, so far, very impressed with this producer's value Cabernets - I've had the 2005 Killerman's Run and about a case of the 2013 Block's Road and they are very enjoyable and great values for pure, honest Australian Cabernet that isn't spoofed and lets the varietal character show through.

Summer solstice and a year since I opened my first bottle. Something I've never seen before, and that I wasn't aware of earlier: I just poured a dram to sample the wine and found a thick coating on the inside of the bottle. Not dregs; can't be decanted away. Pull a finger around the inside of the neck and you get a thin, purple ink stain. It's wine; doesn't taste any different from the liquid. And it doesn't penetrate the skin: a lick and it's gone.
Wine physics aside, this cab has improved a bit in 14 months. Still firm tanins on opening that soon soften. Nice layered flavors emerge.

If you try to pop and pour, the tanins will make your lips pucker. But let it sit for 20 minutes and you'll have a nice cab with soft tannins, juicy layers, and a medium finish.
