flawed

Monday, December 25, 2023 - From 75cl, fill into neck. Brittle, slimy cork, firmly adhering to the bottle neck, required intensive work to extract with ah-so, corkscrew and various excavating instruments before filtering off a carpet of cork detritus. Heavy deposit left in bottle. Served immediately, the wine deteriorated over subsequent hour. Still a very acceptable drink, but muffled after so long in contact with its faulty closure, and so unlike any other Dead Arm I can remember. At its best: Concentrated, luscious blackberry fruit, bright currant acidity, nicely furry tannins not yet fully resolved. 88P in this condition, but surely the wine in this bottle would have shown in a different league had it been bottled under screwcap. See also CT TN by tomandlu dated 11.07.2023, who seems to have encounted something similar.
