Tuesday, January 9, 2024 - Had next to a 06 Sassicaia, both decanted for 3 hours and consumed over 1. If this was a bit of a disappointment, Sassicaia was not. Without much experience with the two wines, I thought I would get similar styles that would be interesting to evaluate side by side. I was wrong. This was quite linear and extremely Bordeux-like, with tobacco, leather, and cassis, resolved tannins, and in prime, maybe even in decline. For me, the Brett was very obstructive and muted a lot of the fruit. A nice bottle of wine, but not much more and not up to my expectations.
