Friday, October 20, 2023 - Corked.

Changed note to no rating to keep the whiners happy. it seems rating a corked wine is somehow inappropriate. Whatever. Amateurs. Some winemakers have a lot of corked wines and others (Rousseau,Vogue, for example) never do.

If I could magically remove the taint this would be a good bottle in the 90s but IT ISN’T. It is near undrinkable … thus low score. The winemaker contributed to this problem as it obviously left the winery with some sort of taint. So THIS BOTTLE has a low score.

This is why I can rarely be bothered to post notes.

10/20/2023 8:05:00 PM - Some jackass (rkliu) who has reviewed 18 lousy wines thought a “corked” note was irrelevant. Buddy, you need to give your head a shake. You think I’m “ruining” cellar tracker. That’s a laugh.

I can admit I’m lazy but I find corked and pre-moxed notes to be very useful.

10/20/2023 8:45:00 PM - We have a checkbox to note when a wine is flawed. That is actually the site policy. Please just use that.

10/20/2023 9:39:00 PM - I didn’t say your review was irrelevant, but I thought it was too harsh to rate it 78 pts because of a corked bottle. Your original review was just a single word “corked” and a score of 78 without any reasons. How can this be helpful? Also, there are still many users in CellarsTracker who drink “lousy” wines like me. If you are truly a wine pro, I think you should be more respectful to wine amateurs too.

10/21/2023 3:37:00 PM - Much appreciated. And to be clear, it is totally cool to post notes on defective/flawed bottles. As you note, it can expose a trend that goes beyond specific bottles. Just use that checkbox. What I do if scoring is just note in the text of the note what I might score. (It's always sad when you can sense a good wine behind the TCA...)

    10/21/2023 4:37:00 PM - It’s always a good bottle. :)

I probably post one note for every 100 bottles I taste. Can’t handle the back seat driving and chirping. Over time I’ve realized that I can only take ratings with a grain of salt as there are a lot of people posting with very different levels of knowledge and experience.

I tasted through about 150 bottles a few weeks ago in Italy. It was fun.

The most memorable were the elegant ones … soldera, Montevertine and Stella di Campalto. Montevertine is a smoking deal and I’m glad it remains on almost nobody’s radar. Oops.

You can change your setting so no one can comment on your notes. No chirping if you don't want it.

comply with the rules and realize I should pay attention to them. I’m gonna make up for the shoddy poggione with a bachelet charmes 2015. Infanticide but who cares.

10/21/2023 7:02:00 PM - Just posted TN. Very challenging to buy in my market. I’d buy a case a year if someone would sell it to me.
