Friday, June 1, 2018 - This half bottle 2005 Nicolas Potel Criot Batard Montrachet is drinking very nicely. An opulent nose with pineapple, stone, custard, and oak. Palate has very high acidity which is surprising for a ripe vintage and this terroir. A well balanced wine that shows the richness and fatness of the terroir despite a hot vintage. The Potel oaky character is obvious on the palate but not disturbing. Got lucky with these half bottles as the regular 750ml certainly did not show this well at all when it was consumed last year. 91+
