Sunday Night Dinner (Eric & Megan's - Chicago): A rich wine without being overly concentrated. Had some lush pear and apple tones with some deeper flinty notes in there too. Palate had nice balance with some background exotic tones of what felt like passion fruit or peach. Very nice.
A fairly round and full-bodied Burgundy, with flavors of tropical fruits, vanilla and citrus; There's definitely some oak treatment, but there's a nice spine of minerals and acidity that keeps everything in balance; Could use some more time to integrate, but pretty tasty today
Medium lemon. On the nose, citrus pith and minerals, with lemon in the background. Flavors similar to the nose, with a creamy texture that reveals layers of flavor as it warms in the glass. The is medium/full body, medium-high acid, some well-integrated oak, and a very long finish. Probably not yet at its peak, but very drinkable tonight nevertheless. Terrific wine.
Initially, I served this too cold (out of the refrigerator), but then let it warm up in the glass and breathe, and what a difference; Palate has lots of tropical fruits, pears, brioche and a backbone of minerality that keeps everything in balance; Really impressive, this should continue to gain complexity with more time
